HBO has released a new Sharp Objects trailer. The story revolves around a reporter (Amy Adams) fresh off a stay at a psych hospital who must return to her tiny hometown for her latest assignment: covering the murder of two preteen girls. Jean-Marc Vallée (Big Little Lies) directed the series with Marti Noxon (Mad Men) serving as showrunner.
Here’s the synopsis for Gillian Flynn’s Sharp Objects:
Fresh from a brief stay at a psych hospital, reporter Camille Preaker faces a troubling assignment: she must return to her tiny hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. For years, Camille has hardly spoken to her neurotic, hypochondriac mother or to the half-sister she barely knows: a beautiful thirteen-year-old with an eerie grip on the town. Now, installed in her old bedroom in her family’s Victorian mansion, Camille finds herself identifying with the young victims a bit too strongly. Dogged by her own demons, she must unravel the psychological puzzle of her own past if she wants to get the story and survive this homecoming.
Elizabeth Perkins’ role is Jackie, the local gossip and renowned alcoholic. Trashy, fun and larger than life, she knows she’s a “backwoods Barbie” and has a sense of humor about it.

HBO unveiled the first teaser for its upcoming limited series Sharp Objects. Based on the book of the same name by The New York Times bestselling author Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl, Dark Places), this eight-episode series tells the story of reporter Camille Preaker (Adams) who returns to her small hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. Trying to put together a psychological puzzle from her past, she finds herself identifying with the young victims a bit too closely.

HBO released the official trailer for the highly anticipated “Curb” return on Oct. 1, featuring all your favorite psychotic Los Angelenos. There’s Jeff Garlin as Jeff Greene, Susie Essman as Susie Greene, J.B. Smoove as Leon Black, Bob Einstein as Marty Funkhouser and Cheryl Hines as Cheryl David. Ted Danson and Richard Lewis will also be back playing themselves.
Curb Your Enthusiasm stars Seinfeld co-creator Larry David as himself in an unsparing but tongue-in-cheek depiction of his life. Shot in a verite style and featuring celebrities playing themselves, the episodes are improvised by the actors from an outline created by David. The series also stars Cheryl Hines as David’s wife Cheryl, Jeff Garlin as David’s manager Jeff and Susie Essman as Jeff’s wife Susie.
The trailer features some exciting guest stars including Carrie Brownstein as David’s constipated assistant and Bryan Cranston as his scruffy therapist. New season will also include appearances by Nick Offerman, Nasim Pedrad, Elizabeth Banks, Jimmy Kimmel, Ed Begley Jr., Elizabeth Perkins, June Diane Raphael and Judge Judy. Bonus: “Gilmore Girl” star Lauren Graham will spend multiple episodes playing David’s love interest.
Netflix on Wednesday announced that Season 1 of GLOW, a scripted comedy series inspired by the 1980s phenomenon Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, will premiere on Friday, June 23.
In Los Angeles-set comedy, Brie plays Ruth, a struggling actress who becomes a TV wrestler in a last-ditch effort to keep her star burning. Marc Maron (Maron) co-stars as washed-up film director Sam Sylvia, who suddenly finds himself leading 14 women on a path to wrestling stardom.
GLOW hails from Liz Flahive (Homeland) and Carly Mensch (Orange Is the New Black), and counts OITNB‘s Jenji Kohan and Tara Herrmann among its executive producers.
The 10-episode first season of the series, from Weeds and Orange is the New Black creator Jenji Kohan, was announced last year for Netflix, with a cast led by Alison Brie and Marc Maron, with Betty Gilpin, Jackie Tohn, Elizabeth Perkins and Ellen Wong also listed among the cast.

Weeds alum Elizabeth Perkins guest-stars on Thursday’s episode of How to Get Away with Murder (10/9c, ABC) as Marren Trudeau, the big-time founder and CEO of a brokerage firm who’s accused of the charge. In the exclusive sneak peek below, Annalise (Viola Davis) and her students arrive at the firm only to see the FBI already there — and Marren burning the warrant.
“Your client purchased stocks in Edson Pharmaceuticals in advance of a favorable FDA ruling arising from insider knowledge,” the FBI agent tells Annalise. “I still see no proof of my client’s connection to Edson Pharmaceuticals,” she replies.
