Happy 50th Anniversary The Flintstones!!

Thursday, Sep 30, 2010

The Flintstones cartoon series celebrated its 50th anniversary and the Google search engine honored the iconic 1960s stone-age family with a “Google Doodle” on its front page.

The show ran from 1960 to 1966 and featured the voices of Alan Reed as Fred Flintstone, Jean Vander Pyl as his wife Wilma, Bea Benaderet as their neighbor Betty Rubble and Mel Blanc, the voice of Bugs Bunny, as her husband and Fred Flinstone’s pal Barney.

The series spurred several television specials, as well as the 1994 movie The Flintstones, which starred John Goodman, Elizabeth Perkins, Rosie O’Donnel and Rick Moranis. The movie helped launch the career of Halle Berry, who played a sexy secretary.

Version 10 – “Funky, Lovely & Fresh”

Friday, Sep 24, 2010

As you can see I have finally managed to put up a new gorgeous layout on the main site and photo gallery, both made for my talented friend Shawn. Elizabeth Perkins Fan is now displaying it’s tenth look since the launched of the site in June 2006. Compared to the previous design, I personally think this one is more fresh, funky and more understated elegance plus this layout has indeed my favorite colours.

My next job is to get the gallery updated with a lot of screencaptures from her movies so I’ll begin very soon to capture all them little by little. So check the site for updates very soon! Please let me know if anything is not working properly and I am also looking for all kind of affiliates, so please be sure to apply!

Elizabeth against NASA’s monkey radiation experiments

Saturday, Sep 18, 2010

In Defense of Animals (IDA), an international animal protection organization with over 85,000 members, today released letters from celebrities opposed to NASA-funded experiments. The experiments, which NASA wants conducted at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL), involve irradiating squirrel monkeys. IDA and the International Primate Protection League (IPPL), a South Carolina-based non-profit dedicated to protecting the world’s primates, filed a complaint about the experiments.

The celebrities signed on to the IDA-drafted letter to U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu, NASA Administrator Charles F. Bolden, Jr., and BNL Director Dr. Samuel Aronson. Those who have signed to date are: Woody Harrelson, Zachary Quinto, Alicia Silverstone, James Cromwell, Allison Janney, Kristen Bell, Emily Deschanel, and Elizabeth Perkins.

NASA’s proposed experiments would inundate these tiny monkeys – only a foot tall – with one massive burst of gamma radiation equal to a 3-year journey to Mars and back. Since the 1950′s, thousands of primates have been exposed to various dosages of radiation including radio frequency, microwave, X-ray, gamma, electron, proton, neutron and other particle radiation. Studies have already shown that gamma radiation can cause depressive behavior, immobility, hyperirritability, convulsions, vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, hair loss, open sores, skin hemorrhages, and even death. How has Elizabeth Perkins not won an Emmy for Weeds?

Tuesday, Sep 14, 2010

Bob Degon of Cliqueclack.com wrote an interesting article about how Elizabeth has not won an Emmy for Weeds. Touching (of course) on the subject of Elizabeth’s great work with her hilarious character Celia Hodes. This article has been archived in the press room section.

I’ve been catching up with ‘Weeds’ and one big question that comes to mind while watching is: How has Elizabeth Perkins’s amazing performance gone Emmy-less over the years?

Over the past few weeks I’ve been catching up on Weeds, and I’m really loving it. In fact, I’m only a handful of episodes from being completely caught up with the new season. (If you’re looking for a virgin diary, check with Kona, who chronicled her thoughts as she caught up with the show too, or any of Aryeh’s  current reviews). I’ve been impressed with the writing and the acting from the excellent cast (as well as the outstanding stable of guest stars). One thing that has surprised me, though, is the lack of awards for the show, in particular one member of the cast: Elizabeth Perkins.

She has been, deservedly, nominated three times for her performance as Celia Hodes, the super bitch that everyone hates. Well, I don’t hate her. I think the character is the highlight of the show. Sure, Nancy and her family are the main focus of Weeds, but I don’t think the show would be anything without Celia. She adds so much to the chemistry of the show, adding trouble, snide remarks, and a bad attitude — and it’s all a joy to behold. Continue reading How has Elizabeth Perkins not won an Emmy for Weeds?
