SundanceTV Serves Up Four-Hour “One Child” on Thanksgiving Weekend

•• The original miniseries follows the story of Mei, a young woman born in China and raised by British parents who is called back to Guangzhou by her desperate birth mother after Mei’s brother is wrongly accused of murder. One Child stars Katie Leung as the woman who struggles in the face of crisis to determine her family loyalties, true identity and the meaning of family. Elizabeth Perkins, Donald Sumpter play her UK parents. SundanceTV will air the four-hour mini, which it acquired in the spring, on November 28 & 29. One Child is a BBC Drama production for BBC Two, co-produced with SundanceTV and distributed by BBC Worldwide North America. Hilary Salmon is the executive producer.

Elizabeth Perkins joins Sundance TV’s “One Child”

•• SundanceTV announced today that Elizabeth Perkins and Donald Sumpter have joined the cast of One Child, a co-produced, new original scripted mini-series. The four-hour series penned by Guy Hibbert (Complicit, Five Minutes of Heaven) and starring Katie Leung (Harry Potter) is currently in production in London and Hong Kong and will air in late 2014. One Child crosses the world as a Chinese-born young woman adopted by British parents must struggle with who she really is in order to decide where her loyalty lies.

Emmy nominated actress Elizabeth Perkins, known for her role on acclaimed series Weeds and Donald Sumpter (Game of Thrones, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) will play Katherine and Jim Arthurton, adoptive parents of Mei (Leung). Mei a first-born Chinese girl adopted by English parents who gets called back to Guangzhou when her birth mother desperately seeks her assistance in saving her son. But how far will Mei go to help the woman who gave her away and the brother she’s never met?  ONE CHILD takes a new look at what it means to be family.

One Child will be executive produced by Hilary Salmon for BBC Productions. The project is a BBC Drama production for BBC Two and is co-produced with SundanceTV and is distributed by BBC Worldwide North America.

Elizabeth Perkins supports “Moms Demand Action”

•• Elizabeth Perkins joined a few days ago and made a donation to “Moms Demand Action” (A grassroots organization formed in the wake of the devastating mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary).

Moms Demand Action was founded by stay-at-home mom Shannon Watts on December 15, 2012, in response to the devastating shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The organization quickly flourished into a leading force for gun violence prevention, with chapters in all 50 states and a powerful grassroots network of moms that has successfully effected change at the local, state and national level. In December 2013, Moms Demand Action partnered with Mayors Against Illegal Guns to unite a nationwide movement of millions of Americans working together to change the game and end the epidemic of gun violence that affects every community.
