"Celia is damaged, She thinks she’s never really lived the life she feels she deserves. She’s the most politically incorrect person in town and at home she is a nightmare. Her husband is screwing the tennis pro and she can’t divorce him because that would mean giving up her lifestyle. Her daughter is fat and she can’t see beyond that. It is a pleasure to play someone so unheroic." -Elizabeth Perkins

I have big and really exciting news for all of you. Elizabeth Perkins has signed up for a role in the CBS pilot “Vince Uncensored”. The comedy stars (No Ordinary Family’s Michael Chiklis) as a man called Vince who decides to take a more honest approach to life.
The multicamera comedy, which is being executive produced by Conan O’Brien’s company Conaco, written by Phoef Sutton and to be directed by Kelsey Grammer, centers on Vince (Chiklis), a family man who experiences a medical problem and starts to speak the truth and live in the moment much to the chagrin of his family. Elizabeth will play Vince’s wife, a teacher who deals patiently with his new candid personality.
I just wanted to let you know that next week is “National Weeds Awareness Week” on TV Guide Network. The six-day marathon of “Weeds” kicks off on Sunday, October 17 at 9pm ET/PT airing seasons 1-3 and runs each night from 9pm to 2am ET/PT until Friday, October 22. And to keep “Weeds” awareness strong following the television marathon, TV Guide Network will air four back-to-back episodes of “Weeds” every Sunday at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT starting October 24.
“Weeds” has received multiple awards including: 10 Golden Globe® nominations, including one win for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (Mary-Louise Parker); 19 Emmy® nominations, including nods for Best Comedy Series, Best Actress (Mary-Louise Parker), Best Supporting Actress (Elizabeth Perkins) and Best Directing; and multiple Screen Actors Guild® Award nominations for Mary-Louise Parker and the entire ensemble.
Bob Degon of Cliqueclack.com wrote an interesting article about how Elizabeth has not won an Emmy for Weeds. Touching (of course) on the subject of Elizabeth’s great work with her hilarious character Celia Hodes. This article has been archived in the press room section.
I’ve been catching up with ‘Weeds’ and one big question that comes to mind while watching is: How has Elizabeth Perkins’s amazing performance gone Emmy-less over the years?
Over the past few weeks I’ve been catching up on Weeds, and I’m really loving it. In fact, I’m only a handful of episodes from being completely caught up with the new season. (If you’re looking for a virgin diary, check with Kona, who chronicled her thoughts as she caught up with the show too, or any of Aryeh’s current reviews). I’ve been impressed with the writing and the acting from the excellent cast (as well as the outstanding stable of guest stars). One thing that has surprised me, though, is the lack of awards for the show, in particular one member of the cast: Elizabeth Perkins.
She has been, deservedly, nominated three times for her performance as Celia Hodes, the super bitch that everyone hates. Well, I don’t hate her. I think the character is the highlight of the show. Sure, Nancy and her family are the main focus of Weeds, but I don’t think the show would be anything without Celia. She adds so much to the chemistry of the show, adding trouble, snide remarks, and a bad attitude — and it’s all a joy to behold.
